New Moon in Leo- Purva Phalguni

This September New Moon in Leo closes our eclipse cycle and opens us to a new moment. As we reflect on what has transpired over the past month or so, we are asked to become aware of the difference between who we have been and who we are becoming.

What patterns, stories or wounds have surfaced to be seen, understood and transformed so that we can set our gaze on a happier, more truthful way of living?

This New Moon arrives in Purva Phalguni, the nakshatra of creativity, pleasure, desire, love and the experience of bringing something into being. However, it is hemmed between Ketu in Magha and Mercury in Uttara Phalguni, which adds an important element to this new moment.

Let’s unfold this…

Magha speaks to what we have inherited - our ancestral lineage, our history, the identities and beliefs we have taken on, and perhaps even the expectations of who we are supposed to be. With Ketu there, we may be experiencing a kind of unraveling or revisiting of the past in some way. Something that once defined us may no longer feel like it belongs to us.

And in the space between what we have inherited and what we are becoming, we encounter our New Moon in Purva Phalguni.

What does it really mean to follow your authentic bliss?

Purva Phalguni isn't simply about following bliss in an external, pleasure-seeking way.

Following your bliss here is about choosing to align with your soul's calling.

Sometimes that calling looks like ease, pleasure and enjoyment.

At some point, we have to give this new vision or sense of self a form. We have to speak it, commit to it and claim it.

We don't have to reject where we came from.

But we also don't have to remain defined by it. We can honor what came before us without allowing it to determine what comes next.

This New Moon is asking us to become conscious of what story we are choosing for ourselves.
